Removal and Installation of the Leaf Spring Bushings

Dismantling

  1. Remove the worn out bushings from the frontal and rear lugs of the leaf spring and from the car’s frame brackets by any suitable way.
  2. Clean the bearings in leaf spring’s lugs and the bearings in the frame brackets from rust and dirt.
  3. Rate the degree of wear and damage of the fixing elements to the car’s frame. Replace if necessary.

Removal and Installation of the Bushings without reinforcement

Attention! Some bushings have modified design, in comparison with the original. For example, the original bushing has an inner metal sleeve, but the bushing that is manufactured by Fulcrum Co.Ltd. can be made without it. The diameter of the inner hole is smaller than outer diameter of the bearing on the arm – this allows to fix an arm due to the elastic deformation of bushing’s body. These changes allow to use of the properties of the elastomer better.

Removal and installation of the control arm bushings without outer metal shell.

Removal

Attention! Before starting a  work of the removing and installing of the control arm bushings without outer metal shell, choose the metal tubings (hub base and hub driver) for the removal and installation of bushing. O.D. of the hub driver must be the same as O.D. of the inner metal sleeve. Hub base I.D. must be 1-2 mm. bigger than O.D. of the bushing’s flange not to interfere the removing of the bushing. Forcing should be applied to the inner metal sleeve.

Removal and installation of the control arm bushings with stepped outer metal shell.

Attention! Before starting a work of the removing and installation of the control arm bushing with stepped outer metal shell, take note of its placement. If the placement of the bushing is significant for the proper operation, mark the correct position of the bushing in the control arm. Determine the difference of the outer metal shell diameters and the direction of the bushing’s removal from the arm. Remove towards the increase of diameter. Install conversely towards the reduction of diameter.

Removal and installation of the control arm bushings with outer metal shell.

Attention! Before starting a work of the removing and installing of the control arm bushings take note of the bushing’s placement. If the placement of the bushing is significant for the proper operation, mark the correct position for the bushing in control arm. If arm has a П-shaped profile, use the strut to avoid deformation while removing and installing the bushings.

Removal and installation of the control arm bushing 4-06-2792 without outer metal shell.

Removal and installation of the control arm bushing 4-06-2792 without outer metal shell.

Attention! Control arm bushing 4-06-2792 unlike the original one does not have the outer metal shell. The installation of this bushing must be done into the outer shell of old bushing. Do not remove the old outer shell from the control arm. Remove only rubber in any convenient way.
